Fred Cavayé (born December 14, 1967 in Île-de-France ) is a French director and screenwriter .

Life

Cavayé was born in the Région Parisienne , but moved to Rennes with his mother at the beginning of his youth after his parents separated . He dropped out of school at the age of 16 and got by doing odd jobs. Among other things, he worked as a portrait and wedding photographer. He first discovered the theater for himself and finally the film. He made his first short film in the mid-1990s and financed it himself. His second short film, J , ran successfully at various film festivals. As a result, Cavayé wrote screenplays for television. In 2000 he moved to Paris.

After further short films, which won various awards at festivals, Cavayé made his first feature film in 2008, without guilt , in which he cast Vincent Lindon and Diane Kruger in the leading roles. The following year he received a César nomination for the thriller in the category of best first work . In 2010 Paul Haggis made a remake of the film entitled 72 Hours - The Next Three Days . Cavayé's next feature film was the thriller Point Blank , in which he cast Gilles Lellouche in the lead role. He contributed a segment to the controversial compilation film Men and Women (2012) by Lellouche and Jean Dujardin , before reverting to an action thriller in 2014 with Mea Culpa - In the Eye of Crime . He cast the leading roles with Vincent Lindon and Gilles Lellouche, with whom he had already worked in previous film projects. As early as 2011, Cavayé had been offered to direct the action film Die Hard - A Good Day to Die , but he turned down the offer because he was more committed to the psychological thriller.
