Nicole Garcia (born April 22, 1946 in Oran , French North Africa (now Algeria )) is a French actress and director .

Life

Garcia was born in Oran. Her parents were so-called pied noirs (Algerian -French ). It was not until 1962 - Oran, which had previously belonged to France, became part of the independent state of Algeria that year - she came to France, where she finished school and began studying law. She also took theater courses and eventually studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique .

Since then she has filmed with Nathalie Baye in Weekend for Two (1990), Gérard Lanvin and Bernard Giraudeau in Der Lieblingssohn (1994), Catherine Deneuve in Place Vendôme (1998), Daniel Auteuil in L'adversaire (2002) and Benoît Magimel in Selon Charlie (2006).

In 2014, Garcia was President of the International Jury of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival . This is the film adaptation of Milena Agus Roman Mal di pietre (English title: The woman in the moon ).

In 2018 she was appointed to the competition jury of the 75th Venice International Film Festival .

Garcia is the mother of two sons: Scenario Frédéric Bélier-Garcia was born in 1965. Actor and singer Pierre Rochefort (* 1981) comes from his relationship with Jean Rochefort .
