Nathalie Marie Andrée Baye [baj] (born July 6, 1948 in Mainneville , Haute-Normandie ) is a French actress .

Life

Nathalie Baye comes from a less well-off family of painters. She was dyslexic , dropped out of school at fourteen and took ballet lessons in Monaco . Three years later she went to the USA to broaden her horizons. On her return, she attended the Cours Simon , which she completed in 1972, in addition to renewed dance lessons . Already in 1973 she became known with the supporting role of the script girl Joëlle in the film The American Night by François Truffaut . Other supporting roles followed, including a brief appearance in Truffaut's The Man Who Loved Women . She played her first major leading role as a partner in Truffaut's Das Grüne Zimmer (1978). Since the early 1980s, she has been one of France's leading actresses since Claude Goretta's The Denial (1981) and Robin Davis' Married to a Dead .

Nathalie Baye has been awarded the César four times : for Best Supporting Actress in 1981 in Save Yourself, Who Can (Life) and in 1982 in An Incredible Career, as well as Best Actress in 1983 in La Balance - The Treason and 2006 in A Fatal Decision . At the 1999 Venice Film Festival she received the Best Actress award for her role in A Pornographic Relationship . She had other film successes a. a. with vacation for a week and denial .

Nathalie Baye has a daughter, Laura Smet , who switched to acting after her mother. Smet comes from her relationship with Johnny Hallyday , who starred with her in the 1984 film Détective .
