action

The Parisian beauty salon "Vénus Beauté" is a meeting place for all kinds of people who are grappling with lovesickness and panic of old age. Boss Madame Nadine and her employees Angèle, Samantha and Marie do what they can to renew their mostly female customers, both externally and internally. But the 40-year-old Angèle is gradually fed up with always having to serve as the sorrows aunt of her customers, especially since her own life is not looking rosy either: She grew up as an orphan after her father first killed her mother and later himself. Fearful of rejection, Angèle is unable to enter into a lasting relationship, and fleeting adventures no longer satisfy her. Sometimes she calls her old lover Jacques out of solitude, but he is mostly unavailable.

Her life changes when Angèle meets the young sculptor Antoine, who immediately falls in love with her and leaves his fiancée for her. He had seen Angèle in a cafe when her last lover left her, and has since appeared regularly in front of the beauty parlor to keep an eye out for her. In a café, he finally confesses his love to her. At first, Angèle does not return his love. However, Antoine remains persistent and makes an appointment for a massage. Over time, Angèle developed feelings for him. The youngest of her colleagues, Marie, meanwhile, has an older pilot as a customer who had his deceased wife's face reconstructed after a burn. He finally invites Marie to his home. Concerned about her colleague, Angèle follows Antoine Marie to the pilot's house to look through the windows from the garden. While Marie is willingly seduced by the much older man, Angèle and Antoine begin to kiss.

Over Christmas Angèle visits her aunts in Poitiers , where Antoine has designed an altar for the local cathedral. Back in Paris, Angèle rushes to the hospital after Samantha pumped herself full of drugs out of Christmas frustration. Angèle learns from Samantha that Madame Nadine is setting up a new shop and that Samantha wants to temporarily replace Samantha with a new girl. But Evelyne, the new colleague, is anything but helpful when she sorts the care products according to their colors instead of their functions. Meanwhile, Antoine's fiancée is convinced that Antoine is still in love with her. She makes Angèle think Antoine is cheating on her, which is why Angèle leaves Antoine.

Samantha, who repeatedly clashes with Madame Nadine and is actually a trained nurse, quits for New Year's Eve. On the same evening, Jacques first appears in the beauty parlor. Angèle timidly suggests that they spend New Year's Eve together and live together again. But Jacques tells her that he has now found a new partner and leaves the shop. Shortly afterwards, Antoine arrives with a present to give to Angèle. His fiancée is watching them through the shop window. When she sees Angèle trying on the dress given by Antoine, she rushes into the shop with a gun and fires a shot, but only hits the lamps. After she leaves, Antoine and Angèle kiss.
