Micheline Presle , in the US Micheline Prelle , (* 22. August 1922 as Micheline Chassagne in Paris ) is a French actress .

Life

The industrial daughter had taken acting courses with René Simon and Raymond Rouleau at the age of 15 . In 1938 she began working as an extra on the stage and as a supporting actress in film. As early as 1939 she received the Prix ​​Suzanne Bianchetti as the best young actress . Subsequently, the directors Georg Wilhelm Pabst , Abel Gance , Marcel L'Herbier and Claude Autant-Lara gave her first leading roles, such as in Paradise Lost (1939) , Jealousy (1941) , Your Only Love (1943) and the Devil in Your Body (1947) .

In 1949 she went to Hollywood . Her film work in America remained artistically and commercially disappointing, so that she soon returned to France. Micheline Presle is still a sought-after actress today.

Micheline Presle was married to the director William Marshall from 1950 to 1954 . Her daughter Tonie Marshall was also an actress. In 2004 she received the César for her life's work.
