action

Sixteen-year-old Sibylle steals erotic novels in a bookstore, but is caught one day by the shopkeeper Axel Thorpe, to whom she rebelliously replies that she can write much better stories. Later, at her sister Florence's birthday party, she meets him again and he asks her when he can read her novel. “Soon!” She replied and immediately went to work, which she brought to the bookstore as a preliminary manuscript entitled “Nea”. He would like to publish what has been written, but under anonymous author names, since Sibylle is still a minor. A relationship is developing between the two of them.

At home, meanwhile, the house blessing is crooked because Sibylle's father Philip caught his wife Helen having a fight with Aunt Judith. Sibylle also watches Axel and her sister Florence having a love affair. In order to be able to write truthfully about love, Axel persuades her to deflower it. When the novella is finished, Axel stipulates that they are not allowed to see each other again while the book is under discussion, so that no suspicion is aroused. The minor agrees and "Nea" is a great success. One evening Sibylle Axel overheard him telling Florence that he himself wrote the book. When asked whether he noticed Sibylle's advances, Axel Florence replied that he didn't want anything to do with Sibylle. Sad and angry about it, Sibylle stages a scene in which Axel is also involved and which looks like a rape. Axel has to flee, but later seeks Sibylle again, whereupon there is an argument and then a violent reconciliation. The two go into hiding together.

Reviews

For the lexicon of international films , Nea - A girl discovers love was a "badly played film" and an "embarrassing piece of colportage".

nightmare-horrormovies.de , on the other hand, said: “'Erotic fantasies of a 16 year old', 'Nea - a girl discovers love' ... what could be hidden behind such company names? The sexual debauchery of a minor, wrapped in the train station backdrop of the 1970s sexploitation cinema? Completely wrong. Nelly Kaplan's film is an intelligent drama which has been enriched with a fine sense of humor and some eroticism. "
