Jean Chapot
Jean Chapot (born November 15, 1930 in Bois-Guillaume , Seine-Maritime department , † April 10, 1998 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , Hauts-de-Seine department ) was a French film director , screenwriter and film producer . He directed several films, including Chimney No. 4 and The Lioness and Her Hunter .
life and career
Jean Chapot was born in 1930 in the Seine-Maritime department. Chapot, who had already gained experience as a supporting actor in Alex Joffé's film drama The Merciless in front of the camera in 1957 , began his actual film career in 1960 as a screenwriter for director Robert Ménégoz with the comedy The House of 1000 Windows . The main roles were played by Pierre Fresnay and Jean-Louis Trintignant .
In 1966 he shot the film drama Chimney No. 4 with Romy Schneider , Michel Piccoli and Hans Christian Blech , for which he also wrote the screenplay himself.
In 1972 he won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival for best short film for Le fusil à lunette
In 1973 the critically acclaimed psycho thriller The Lioness and Her Hunter was created with Alain Delon and Simone Signoret in the lead roles and an atmospheric soundtrack by Jean-Michel Jarre , the son of the French composer Maurice Jarre .
Since 1978 he has also directed several episodes for the French crime series The Cases of Monsieur Cabrol as well as several TV films such as: Livingstone (1981), Frédéric and the Joy Girl (1991) and Honorin et l'enfant prodigue (1994).
Chapot died on April 10, 1998 in Neuilly-sur-Seine at the age of 67.
