Nelly Kaplan

Nelly Kaplan (* 1936 in Buenos Aires ( Argentina )) is an Argentine-French film director and writer.

Life

Nelly Kaplan was born in Buenos Aires as the daughter of an opera singer. When she was 18, Nelly came to Paris , where she met André Breton and became his last lover. She learned the film trade with Abel Gance . Films about art followed, such as Rodolphe Bresdin and “Le regard Picasso” about Pablo Picasso . Her first feature film “ La fiancée du pirate ” with Bernadette Lafont and Michel Constantin , for which she received the “Golden Lion” in Venice, was released in 1969. This was followed by other feature films such as "Papa les p'tits bateaux" with Michael Lonsdale a . a. and in 1976 the film " Néa ". Today she and Agnès Varda are one of the classics of feminist women’s film.
