André Génovès

André Génovès (* 1941 in Paris ; † February 1, 2012 in Thoiry , Yvelines department ) was a French film producer and director .

life and career

Génovès, born in Paris in 1941, started working as a film producer in 1967 and has worked in over 30 films. He produced all subjects and genres: crime novels, dramas and comedies. Most often he produced films by Claude Chabrol , the two made 11 films together. Including classics like The Beast Must Die , The Unfaithful Woman , The Butcher or The Innocents With Dirty Hands .

There were also collaborations with other directors such as André Téchiné on his film Barocco with Isabelle Adjani and Gérard Depardieu , Claude Sautets Mado or Pierre Granier-Deferre's "Jet Set" with Alain Delon in the lead role. Génovès also supported participation in foreign film productions such as Terence Young's "Le guerriere dal seno nudo", provided the topic interested him.

In the 80s he worked himself as a screenwriter , director and actor and brought out the film Ein Slip auf Trip ( Les Folies d'Élodie ) in 1981 and Mesrine with Nicolas Silberg in 1984 .

André Génovès died on February 1, 2012 at the age of 70.
