Fanfan & Alexandre (Original title: Fanfan ) is a French comedy film with Sophie Marceau and Vincent Perez from 1993.

action

The wedding of Alexandre and his fiancée Laure is imminent. Faced with the daily grind that has crept in after five years of relationship, Alexandre leaves Paris for a weekend to have time to himself in a house by the sea. One evening there he met the young fan fan whose grandmother Maude had donated the Alexandre house. Fanfan, who comes from a circus family and studies perfume making, also wants to spend the night in her grandmother's house. However, there is only one bed available, which Fanfan and Alexandre now have to share. Back in Paris, the wedding preparations are in full swing. Alexandre, however, is not very euphoric, especially since Laures father hopes that Alexandre will succeed him as a funeral director.

Alexandre also has to admit that he fell in love with Fanfan. The hopeless romantic that he is, Alexandre wants to keep the magic of this love forever by refraining from sleeping with Fanfan. Even a kiss, he believes, can wear off his sensations. However, he wants to get to know Fanfan better and therefore invites them to dinner together. Because he has no money for a stylish restaurant, he breaks into a banker's house and dines with her. When the banker comes home with his wife, Fanfan and Alexandre pretend to have rented the house. While the woman is already dialing the police number, Fanfan tells the banker that a lover has called. To keep Fanfan and Alexandre from telling his wife about their mistress, the banker tells his wife that he has actually rented the house. Alexandre Fanfan then drives to a film studio, where a hall is currently being designed as a ballroom based on the Viennese model. They happily dance around in 19th century costumes. Then Alexandre wants to toast their platonic friendship. Fanfan, who has always hoped for more between them, is disappointed and sadly leaves the hall.

Since Fanfan cannot afford the rent for a new apartment of 4,000 francs, Alexandre makes an agreement with the landlord without her knowledge. Fanfan is to get the one-room apartment, which used to belong to a dancer and is therefore equipped with a mirrored wall, for 3,000 francs rent, while Alexandre pays the remaining 1,000 francs a month. When Alexandre meets a fanfan in a bar, he mixes sleeping pills in her glass and then drives her to Maude's house by the sea. The next morning, fanfan Alexandre gets her back on the beach. When she turns around and lies half-naked in front of him, Alexandre leans over to kiss her. At that moment, Laure unexpectedly arrives on the beach and reports to Alexandre that she is pregnant. Once again disappointed with him, Fanfan gives Alexandre a slap in the face and leaves. When it turns out that Laure only pretended to be pregnant in order not to lose Alexandre to her rival, Alexandre Laure no longer wants to marry.

While Fanfan is away for ten days, Alexandre moves into her neighboring apartment and builds a wall with Venetian mirror glass in place of her mirror . That's how he wants to live with her without having to touch her. Fanfan, who tries to make Alexandre jealous of her fellow student Paul, learns from her grandmother that Alexandre lives next to her and watches her day and night through the mirror. Fanfan finally gives him an ultimatum. If he's not with her by ten the next morning and finally touches her, he'll never see her again. When Alexandre does not show up by the said time, Fanfan leaves him a letter in her apartment and informs him that she is with her sister. She took her own life at the age of 15. When Alexandre realizes that he has lost Fanfan forever, Fanfan shoots the mirror from the other side. Relieved to see her well, Alexandre wraps her in his arms and lets her kiss him extensively.
