Jean Raoul Robert Rochefort (born April 29, 1930 in Paris ; † October 9, 2017 there ) was a French actor . He starred in 160 films, mostly in comedies and dramas.

life and career

After Rochefort had worked in theater and cabaret as an actor and director without much success, he began his career as a film actor in the mid-1950s. In the early 1960s, Rochefort established himself in French film as a much sought-after comedian and character actor. He worked as a film and TV actor from 1956 to 2015, taking on more than 160 roles.

Rochefort was often seen in comical films, for example at the side of Pierre Richard , next to whom he appeared in The Big Blonde with the Black Shoe as a scheming head of the secret service. From 1964 he also played in the Angélique series. Several times came Rochefort next to Jean-Paul Belmondo on ( Cartouche, the bandit ) , with whom he collaborated the Paris Conservatoire had visited.

In the dramatic field he established himself in 1972 as the husband of Annie Girardot and father of Claude Jade in Serge Korber's candlelight , who has left the family. Jean Rochefort died in his hometown of Paris in October 2017 at the age of 87. Since January 1989, Jean Rochefort was married to Françoise Vidal for the second time. The couple had two children. He also had two children from his first marriage and a son from a relationship with the French actress Nicole Garcia .
