Angélique (film series)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Angélique films are a French film series based on Anne Golon's historical novels about Angélique, a young noblewoman from the time of Louis XIV . After seven volumes of the Angélique novel series had already been published, the French film discovered the adventures of the young Angélique: in 1964, the first novel was filmed in a Franco-German-Italian co-production under the title Angélique, marquise des Anges (German title: Angélique ).

Director Bernard Borderie decided to shoot the second part at the same time as the first film. Merveilleuse Angélique (German title: Angélique, 2nd part ) was published the following year . A total of four of the thirteen novels were produced as films. The fourth novel was filmed in two parts, the first of which is titled the book and the second is titled Angelique and the Sultan . The leading role was played by the French Michèle Mercier , who has since become inseparable from the character. Angélique's husband, Joffrey de Peyrac, was portrayed by Robert Hossein .

After being published on VHS video, the films have been available in the original French version since 2007 and in German in a five-part DVD / Blu-Ray box since 2012.

Two Turkish films were also made based on the novels:

  • 1967: Anjelik Osmanli saraylarinda
  • 1968: Anjelik ve Deli Ibrahim

In 2013, Angélique was remake, based on the first four volumes of the new publication from 2008. Nora Arnezeder took on the leading role, Gérard Lanvin played Joffrey de Peyrac.
