Gérard Lanvin (born June 21, 1950 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a French actor .

Life

Lanvin dropped out of school at 17 to become an actor. Rejecting drama schools, he temporarily earned his living as a jeans seller at flea markets before he made the acquaintance of Miou-Miou and Coluche . He then became a member of the well-known theater group Café de la Gare and later founded his own café-théâtre , La Veuve Pichard, together with Martin Lamotte and Christine Dejoux .

In 1977 he received a film role from Coluche in Vous n'aurez pas l'Alsace et la Lorraine , after he had already played a small supporting role at his side in the Louis de Funès film Breast or Club in 1976 . His career took off in the 1980s. In 1980 he starred in The taxi driver from Jacques Bral one of the two friends of the taxi-driving actress. In 1982 he received the Prix ​​Jean Gabin for his role as clerk Louis Coline, whose new boss Michel Piccoli also interferes in his personal life, in the film A Strange Career by Pierre Granier-Deferre . He had an audience success with the comedy Two Fish on Dry Dryness by Michel Blanc (1984), about two vagabond friends who fall in love with the same woman , as in The Taxi Driver .

In 1995, he received a César for Best Actor in Nicole Garcia's drama The Favorite Son . In 2001 he won another César for Best Supporting Actor for the comedy Lust auf anders by Agnès Jaoui .

In 2008 he played in the film adaptation of the life of the gangster Jacques Mesrine ( Public Enemy No. 1 - Death Instinct ) by Jean-François Richet one of his subordinates. In 2013 he played Count Joffrey de Peyrac in “Angelique”, a film adaptation of the first two volumes of the well-known series of novels by Anne and Serge Golon.
