action

The French industrialist Castella wants to sign a contract with Iranian businessmen. To do this, he works with Weber, a young business consultant with a university degree that Castella does not accept. In addition, Castella is accompanied by the bodyguard Franck for insurance reasons during the time the contract is signed.

When Castella is watching a play with his wife, he falls in love with the actress Clara, who gives him English lessons as part of her acting job. In his spare time he is always looking for contact with her, but keeps making faux pas in her circle of friends of actors and artists.

Bruno, Castella's driver, sleeps with the waitress Mania, although he has a girlfriend who is doing an internship in the USA for six months. Shortly afterwards he receives a letter from her in which she confesses that she has cheated too. Franck, Castella's bodyguard, also gets to know mania through Bruno and the two start an affair. They keep joking about moving in together and getting married when Franck's job at Castella is over. Meanwhile, Bruno learns that his girlfriend wants to stay in the USA.

Castella confesses his feelings to Clara in an English poem. She tells him that she cannot reply, so he no longer shows up for class. He buys a work of art from an acquaintance of Clara and she fears that he is only doing this to make an impression on her. She confronts him and he is shocked that she does not believe him that he bought the painting because he likes it. Weber submits his resignation because Castella apparently cannot accept that he comes from a different milieu than him. Castella realizes that he has made a mistake and asks him to reconsider his decision.

When his employment relationship ends after the contract is signed, Franck goes to Mania. At the doorstep, however, he pauses, turns and drives away. Castella separates from his wife. Clara invites him to the premiere of her new play and is pleased that he appears.
