action

The professional killer Victor Meynard, who is considered the best of his craft due to his pedantic conscientiousness, is surprised by the messenger Antoine while carrying out an assignment. However, he does not kill the clumsy young man, but trains him to be his successor. His next job is to murder the con artist Renée, because she has stolen a large amount of money from a gang boss with a forged painting. But instead of killing her, he falls in love with his victim and even protects her; much to the chagrin of his mother, who sees the family honor in danger and also tries once in between to kill the girl.

So it happens that not only Renée but also Victor is hunted. Together they seek shelter in the estate of Victor's family, but when Renée realizes that she is in the house of a professional killer, she escapes and ends up in the hands of the killer Dremyan and his assistant, who are set on her and Victor. As a hostage, she leads the two of them back to the property, where a chain of various circumstances means that Victor's mother's assistant and Dremyan are killed by a defective pistol.

In the closing credits, which played a few years later, Renée and Victor watch their daughter as she shovels a hole when Antoine joins the house as a servant and asks about the cat's whereabouts.
