Alice Winocour
Alice Winocour (born January 13, 1976 in Paris ) is a French director and screenwriter .
Life
Winocour first studied law before going to the La fémis film school , where she studied film production and screenwriting. Her film debut was the short film Orphée by Kamen Kalew in 2003 ; she wrote the script with Kalew and appeared as an actress. Three more short films followed, which she always directed and wrote the script. Her directorial debut Kitchen was nominated for a Palme d'Or for best short film at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
Winocour's feature film directorial debut in 2012 was Augustine , who was based on a true story about the doctor Jean-Martin Charcot , played by Vincent Lindon . Augustine received numerous awards as well as several César nominations; Winocour was nominated for a Caméra d'Or , among other things . For the second time, Winocour directed a full-length feature film in the thriller drama Der Bodyguard - his last assignment with Matthias Schoenaerts and Diane Krüger . The film premiered in Cannes in 2015, where it was nominated for the main prize in the Un Certain Regard series . She won the French film award, the César, for the screenplay for Mustang , which she wrote together with director Deniz Gamze Ergüven . The film was also nominated for an Oscar .
In 2016 Winocour was selected as a member of the jury for the side series Semaine de la critique , which was staged parallel to the 69th Cannes International Film Festival .
