Schockwellen is a mini crime series in which each episode tells a self-contained story based on true events, which is based on both cruel and disturbingly fascinating criminal cases from Switzerland. The individual episodes were realized by four Swiss directors, including Jean-Stéphane Bron and Ursula Meier .

In the first episode “Shock waves - Diary of death”, the committed teacher Madame Fontanel asks her students to keep a diary in Lausanne . She wants the students to get to know their inner world in this way, separated from external influences and constraints. Her 18-year-old student Benjamin Fellner now plans the murder of his parents in detail and explains this in his diary. When Benjamin murders his parents with his father's pistol, the sensitive teacher is accused after the murder of having contributed to the murder. Plagued by self-doubt, she maintains contact with the boy.
The second episode "Shock waves - Journey without return" (2017) immerses itself in the universe of the Sirius Order, whose members embarked on their "last earthly journey" in 1994 in the Swiss Alps. The episode shows the last five days before the members of the order commit suicide. The film by director Frédéric Mermoud is based on the true events of the group suicide of the sun templar in 1994 in Valais.
In the third part "Shock waves - Escape into the mountains", a car robbery ends with a life-threatening escape into the icy Swiss mountains. The young boy of Arab origin Ryad lives with his mother and little sister in poor conditions in a suburb of Lyon . Ryad is a crack at car cracking. In order to raise money, the young person and his friend Zaid want to steal two luxury cars in Switzerland for a group of car smugglers. This culminates in a chase in which Ryad has to fight his way through the snow-covered forests to get back to France. He doesn't seem safe anywhere and ends up freezing to death in the snow just before the French border.
The fourth part of the Swiss miniseries "Shock waves - The Mathieu case" describes the experiences and feelings of the young Mathieu, who tries to find his way back into his life as a victim of a brutal rape and helps the police to find the criminal.

“About the first episode: The film is a discreet drama in melancholy gray-blue colors, in which the teacher's red glowing coat signals the student's unfulfilled longing for love. The film by no means finds cheap answers - that is both its weakness and its strength. "
