Un Certain Regard
Un Certain Regard (Eng. "A certain look") is a section of the Cannes International Film Festival . It was introduced in 1978 by the festival's chief commissioner at the time, Gilles Jacob , in order to promote films that are too “atypical” for the main competition of the film festival and are therefore often little known. Up to 20 films are shown annually.
Prix Un Certain Regard
The main prize of the section, the Prix Un Certain Regard , was introduced in 1998 and is linked to prize money that is used to distribute the winning film in France. Since 2005, the prize has been endowed with 30,000 euros, which is awarded by the Fondation Groupama Gan pour le cinéma.
