FIPRESCI award
The FIPRESCI Awards are film awards given by the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI), the international association of film critics and film journalists .
FIPRESCI's tasks also include awarding awards for films. On the one hand, this happens within the framework of film festivals in the form of special FIPRESCI prizes; on the other hand, FIPRESCI itself has awarded the Grand Prix de la FIPRESCI for the film of the year since 1999 and awarded the European FIPRESCI Prize from 1993 to 2009 . The first FIPRESCI award ceremony took place in 1946 during the first Cannes Film Festival .
Festival prizes
At numerous film festivals, besides other awards, special FIPRESCI critics' prizes are awarded by juries set up by FIPRESCI.
Since 2001, the following films have been awarded FIPRESCI prizes at the following festivals:
Grand Prix de la FIPRESCI
FIPRESCI has been awarding the Grand Prix de la FIPRESCI for the film of the year since 1999 . The winners are determined in a vote of all FIPRESCI members. The award is presented on the occasion of the Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián . So far Paul Thomas Anderson has won the Grand Prix de la FIPRESCI three times; Pedro Almodóvar , Michael Haneke and Aki Kaurismäki each won twice.
