Stockholm International Film Festival
The Stockholm International Film Festival ( Swedish : Stockholms filmfestival ) takes place every November in the Swedish capital Stockholm .
The film festival was founded in 1990 and is accredited as an international film festival with a specialized competition by the FIAPF film producers association . In the international competition, films are shown that reflect new cinematographic developments. The festival describes itself as the “Festival of Directors”, as special attention is paid to the contact between filmmakers and the audience.
The main prize in the international competition is the bronze horse (designed as a Dala horse ) for the best film. Other prizes are awarded to the best short film and the best first work , for example . The Visionary Award has existed since 2005 , the first recipient of which is Terry Gilliam .
The Stockholm International Film Festival Junior , which shows films by children and young people, has been an offshoot of the festival since 2000 .
