Juan Diego Solanas

Juan Diego Solanas (born November 4, 1966 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine director, producer, screenwriter and cameraman.

life and work

His father, Fernando E. Solanas, was already a respected director. Due to the father's political activities against the military dictatorship, the family fled to Paris in 1976 . In his new home in France, Solanas studied art history before working as an assistant to the cameraman Félix Monti , who had already worked for his father.

In 1998 he made his first appearance as a cameraman under the direction of his father with the film La Nube (German: The Last Curtain ). His work L'homme sans tête (German: The Man Without a Head) won the jury award in the short film category at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 . In 2005, this time he directed the film himself and Monti was behind the camera, his feature film debut Nordeste was released . His international breakthrough came in 2012 with the extraordinary science fiction film Upside Down with Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst in the leading roles. Juan Diego Solanas lives and works mainly in France.
