Léa pool
Léa Pool CM (born September 8, 1950 in Geneva ) is a Swiss - Canadian film director and screenwriter .
Life and accomplishments
Léa Pool grew up in Lausanne . She came to Canada in 1975 to learn the film trade. She graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1978. She directed the black and white short film Strass Café (1980), wrote the screenplay and produced it herself. As an actress, she was in Remake (1987), Hotel Chronicles (1990) and the documentary Die Lust im Blick - Women make cinema ( Filmer le désir ) (2001). During the 1990s she directed several documentaries and television productions in Québec. She returned to Switzerland for La Demoiselle sauvage .
After the birth of their daughter Giulia, the film Emporte-moi - Take me with you (1999) with Karine Vanasse and Pascale Bussières followed , in which she showed the difficulties of growing up. Her first English-language film was the teen drama Lost and Delirious (2001). Shooting of the dramatic adventure film The Secret of the Blue Butterfly with William Hurt took place in Costa Rica . Many of Léa Pool's films have been successful at international film festivals .
In 2008 the film Maman est chez le coiffeur, shot in the Canadian city of Beloeil in Quebec, followed . Isabelle Hébert wrote the script. Marianne Fortier played the main role of a teenager. The actors Celine Bonnier , Gabriel Arcand and Laurent Lucas also took part.
