SherryBaby is an American drama set in 2006 . Directed by Laurie Collyer , who also wrote the script.
action
Sherry Swanson, a former drug addict, is released from prison after serving a three-year sentence. She returns to her daughter, who grows up with her brother Bobby and his wife Lynette. Lynette thinks she is now the actual mother of the child, whose upbringing Sherry could interfere.
Sherry is trying to build a new life. She applies for a job as a childcare worker and seduces the person in charge to get the job.

Duane Byrge wrote in The Hollywood Reporter on January 24, 2006 that the film tells a human and living story about the horror of a life that is beyond control. In her “ compassionate ” and “ charismatic ” portrayal, Gyllenhaal shows the embodied character with “ haunting complexity ”.
Dennis Harvey wrote in Variety magazine on January 24, 2006 that the film was one of those little realistic films that could not hope for a large audience. Gyllenhaal plays " fine " a role that has the most substance since Secretary by showing the flaws of the character without losing the audience's sympathy. The rest of the cast give strong performances (" cast is strong ").
