Giancarlo Esposito
Giancarlo Giuseppe Alessandro Esposito (born April 26, 1958 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is an American actor .
life and work
His parents are partly of African American , partly of Italian descent. They lived in Europe until they moved to New York . Esposito played minor roles in films and television series from the late 1970s , his first major role alongside Laurence Fishburne in the 1988 film School Daze . In the 1995 film The Usual Suspects , he played alongside Kevin Spacey , Gabriel Byrne , Benicio del Toro and Stephen Baldwin . From 1998 to 1999 he was in the television series Homicide , for which he was nominated for an Image Award in 1999. In the film Big City Blues (1999) he had a bigger role alongside Burt Reynolds , in the fantasy film Monkeybone (2001) alongside Brendan Fraser and Bridget Fonda , in the thriller Blind Horizon (2003) he played alongside Val Kilmer , in the drama SherryBaby (2006) starring alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal . From 2009 to 2011 he played the criminal businessman and drug lord Gustavo Fring in the AMC television series Breaking Bad . For the role he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in 2012 . He has played this role since the third season of the spin-off Better Call Saul . For his acting performance, he was nominated for another Emmy in the category Best Supporting Actor - Drama Series in 2019 .
From autumn 2012 to May 2014 Esposito starred as Captain Neville in the mystery series Revolution . In total, his work includes more than 160 film and television productions.
In the video game Payday 2 published in 2013 , Esposito appears several times as "The Dentist" and gives the player several assignments.
In 2008 Esposito made his directorial debut with Gospel Hill . His second film, The Show, followed in 2017 .
Esposito is a member of the Atlantic Theater Ensemble . He has won two Obie Awards for roles in the plays Distant Fires and Zooman and the Sign .
Esposito married Joy McManigal in 1995, from whom he has since divorced. He has four daughters.
He plays the main antagonist Anton Castillo in the video game Far Cry 6 .
