Tyler Perry played the lead role as Washington police psychologist Alex Cross . Edward Burns , Matthew Fox and Jean Reno can be seen in other leading roles . In contrast to other countries, the film did not make it into the cinemas in Germany and was released on February 26, 2013 as a direct-to-DVD release.

action

The police psychologist Dr. Alex Cross lives in Detroit with his wife Maria, children Damon and Janelle, and grandmother Nana Mama . After learning that his wife is pregnant with a third child, he considers taking a job as a profiler with the FBI . In a parallel plot, a nameless killer is presented, who knows how to practice mixed martial arts (see MMA ) and impresses a certain viewer, a member of the board of a large company, by buying into such a fight. As was his plan, she invites him to her home. There he murders her bodyguards, gives her a synthetic drug that paralyzes her, and brutally tortures her to death. He cuts off all her fingers and paints a picture of the victim in the style of Picasso and leaves it at the crime scene.

Thomas Kane, who is in a relationship with Cross' colleague Monica, and Cross inspect the crime scene. They notice the picture and that the perpetrator ignored jewelry worth $ 500,000. You realize that he's also targeting the CEO of the same company: the picture left behind contains the initials of the next planned victim. However, the killer’s main target appears to be the company's owner, Frenchman Giles Mercier. You can barely save the CEO. They shoot the killer in this action.

This tortures Monica to death and then murders Cross' wife. Since Cross is now worried about the rest of his family, they are brought to safety. Cross and Kane go in search of the killer. Cross' grandmother warns him not to take revenge because it would harm his soul. However, the two men decide to no longer obey the law and first break into the evidence room to steal certain evidence. Then they enter into a deal with the gangster Daramus Holiday: Cross helps his niece with a trial by embezzling the just stolen evidence and Holiday provides the name of the producer of the synthetic drug. The police ambush the young chemist and beat clues to Picasso out of him.

The two manage to track down Picasso and render it harmless after he committed a bomb attack at the town hall in which Mercier apparently died. Cross had noticed during the assassination that Mercier had probably sent a doppelganger who died in the assassination attempt. Now the two discover that Mercier was behind the attacks and has meanwhile withdrawn to a tropical country. Cross calls him in his hiding place and Mercier confesses to the crimes. He'd hired the professional killer, but he didn't want Cross's wife to be killed. Through an illegal trick, Cross manages to put Mercier behind bars for trafficking in drugs.

After the death of his wife, Cross decided to take the job with the FBI in Washington, DC, and Kane is applying for a job there too. The film ends with Cross looking lovingly at his family through a window.

Reviews

" Alex Cross is a disjointed thriller with too many characters floating around in the movie."

“After Morgan Freeman had already appeared twice in the 1990s to play the hero of the ongoing bestselling series by James Patterson, now the focus of the reboot is the African American superstar Tyler Perry, which the blockbuster-experienced Rob Cohen ('xXx') with a maximum in booth magic as spectacular as it was speculative on the screen. Matthew Fox from 'Lost' can be seen as the antagonist of the action thriller. "

“While superstar Morgan Freeman ('The Condemned', 'Seven') slipped into the role of the famous detective in the first two screen adaptations, Rob Cohen's ('xXx - Triple X') 'Alex Cross' with Tyler Perry is more for shoddy comedies by famous actors in the big footsteps. However, Perry does not manage to fill it in: the bland action thriller, which is loosely based on "Blood", the 12th part of the book series, disappointed at the American box office and neither achieved the class of the novel nor that of the first two 'Cross' films.
