Edward Burns (* 29. January 1968 in New York City as Edward Fitzgerald Burns ) is an American actor , director , film producer and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Burns comes from an Irish family, his father was a police officer. He attended Catholic Chaminade High School , then studied English at the State University of New York and Oneonta College . After graduation, he produced the comedy Little Sins Among Brothers (1995) for around US $ 30,000 , for which he also wrote the script, directed and took on one of the roles.

In the comedy She's the One (1996) he took on one of the leading roles, he also wrote the script and directed. He appeared in this film alongside Jennifer Aniston , Cameron Diaz and John Mahoney . In the war drama Saving Private Ryan (1998) he appeared alongside Tom Hanks , Tom Sizemore and Matt Damon . In the action film 15 minutes of fame (2001) he played one of the leading roles alongside Robert De Niro . In the comedy Life or something like that (2002) he appeared next to Angelina Jolie .

Burns has been married to Christy Turlington since 2003 and has two children.
