Vin Diesel (born July 18, 1967 as Mark Sinclair in Alameda County ) is an American actor , film producer , director and screenwriter .


Vin Diesel was raised by his mother and stepfather in Greenwich Village , New York City . He never got to know his birth father. Although his stepfather was an acting teacher, he got his first role by chance: at the age of seven he and friends gained access to a theater in order to devastate it. They were caught in the act but were given a $ 20 fine and given the task of rehearsing a piece every day after school. This was followed by other roles on various New York theater stages, but they were poorly paid. Thanks to his muscle training, at the age of 17 he was able to earn some extra money as a bouncer for various clubs .

He dropped out of college after three years to go to Hollywood . Despite his theater experience, he was unsuccessful and came back to New York. His interest in the film, however, was unbroken, and after reading the book Feature Films at Used Car Prices ( feature films to used car prices) turned it your own movie, he also for the writer wrote, directed led and acted as lead actor. His debut Multi-Facial was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and delighted the critics. Through the film, Steven Spielberg became aware of him, who hired him for a role in Saving Private Ryan . In 2004, a computer game entitled The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was published, in which the history of both films can be re-enacted from the point of view of his character Riddick. It was co-developed by his self-founded entertainment company Tigon Studios. Due to the good sales of the game, the sequel The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena appeared on April 23, 2009 . The developers were again Tigon Studios. At the end of July 2012, filming began for the sixth part of the Fast and Furious series, which premiered in May 2013. Diesel again acted as a lead actor and producer. He also shot the third part of the Riddick series, Riddick , which was released in 2013. In August 2013, Diesel was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame . It followed u. a. other parts of the Fast and Furious series, and as the voice of Groot, he has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Guardians of the Galaxy from 2014 . In 2017 he was in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage , in 2020 he played the lead role in the comic book version Bloodshot .

Diesel is in a relationship with the Mexican model Paloma Jiménez , with whom he has three children. He has a twin brother, film editor Paul Vincent.

German dubbing voice

Since the film Riddick: Chronicles of a Warrior (2004), Vin Diesel has only been dubbed in German by Martin Keßler. An exception was the film Der Babynator (2005), where it was spoken by Torsten Michaelis . Keßler had previously spoken to Diesel in the films Pitch Black - Planet der Finsternis (2000) and The Fast and the Furious (2001). In the MCU films, Diesel is spoken by Hans-Eckart Eckhardt in the role of the computer- animated Groot .

In his earlier films, Diesel was also dubbed by Marco Kröger and Charles Rettinghaus . Kröger spoke with him in Time of Awakening (1990), Strays - Lebe Dein Leben (1997 ), Saving Private Ryan (1998) and xXx - Triple X (2002). Rettinghaus lent him his voice in the films Risk - The Fastest Path to Wealth (2000), Knockaround Guys (2001) and Extreme Rage (2003).
