action

Dominic "Dom" Toretto has been in the Dominican Republic since he fled the USA . Six years after he fled the United States due to being wanted on an arrest warrant, he is still stealing tank trucks along with Letty, Han, Rico and Leo. Because he learns that the police are behind them and that they are primarily after him, he decides to leave Letty to protect her. Shortly after his escape, Dom receives a call from Mia. She informs him that Letty was involved in an accident and then murdered, after which he returns to the USA. There Mia explains to him what exactly happened to Letty. While inspecting the scene of the accident, Dom comes across clues that lead him to someone who tells him that a man named David Park has more information.

Brian O'Conner - now active as an FBI agent - is looking for a drug lord whose name is known only: Arturo Braga. In the course of this investigation he would like to interview David Park. So he seeks him out and meets Dom, who is holding David upside down out of the window to extort information. Brian puts Dom in the apartment, but has to let him escape because he has to save David from falling. He later tells the FBI that Braga's right-hand man, Ramon Campos, is organizing a race to recruit the last driver on a team for a drug delivery. Brian and Dom both take part in this race. Dom wins just ahead of Brian and gets the job. Brian also becomes part of the team by slipping drugs into one of the other drivers during a staged raid.

All drivers are invited to a night club in the evening . There Campos had a short conversation with Dom and Brian and then withdrew. While Dom subsequently learns from Gisele Harabo that Fenix is the owner of the car that drove Letty off the street, Brian sees Campos having a drink with an older man he believes is Braga. He later submits the glasses used by the two to the FBI to have them examined for fingerprints.

The next day, all drivers are ordered to a warehouse using a navigation device , where they are loaded with their cars into a truck , which then takes them to the Mexican border. The loaded drugs are transported across the border using a tunnel. Once at the destination, Dom Fenix provokes and receives confirmation that it was he who pushed Letty off and shot him. As the drivers are about to be executed, Dom stages his nitrous oxide bottle to explode, creating enough distraction to escape with Brian and sixty million dollars worth of drugs.

Brian describes the situation to his manager at the FBI. He suggests that Braga's organization be blown up by exchanging drugs for money. While the handover is taking place, the international database comparison of the fingerprints shows that Brian saw in the Braga nightclub. The FBI chief of operations rashly decides that access should be made and identifies the older man as Braga. It quickly becomes clear that this is not true and that Braga and Campos are the same person. He escapes with Fenix and almost kills Gisele, who is saved by Dom.

Through Gisele, who wants to return the favor for saving their lives, Dom and Brian learn that Braga is currently in a Mexican church, from where they kidnap him. After a chase through the tunnel, Dom saves Brian's life by killing Fenix before he can kill Brian. Braga is arrested by the police. Dom surrenders to the police and is sentenced to 25 years imprisonment at the subsequent court hearing, despite his contributions to the capture of Braga.

During the transport to the prison, the occupants of the bus notice three cars in which Mia, Brian, Rico and Leo can be seen. The grin on Dom's face lets the viewer assume that he is being freed.

reception

Reviews

“The film advertises that the actors from the first part are reunited. With the gentlemen of the street, the dynamics are actually right again. Diesel's film sister Jordana Brewster is also warming up her old love story, but she never ran a speedometer in 'The Fast and the Furious'. But it's really cheeky to suddenly stage tough Michelle Rodriguez as a tender girl and then let her jump over the hoop after a very short time. Conclusion: PS action at high acceleration, emotional fuss in reverse gear, in between some traffic jams "

“The ingredients of this adrenaline - testosterone cocktail are very primitive, as if there were pithy macho sayings, sexy chicks and collapsing speedometer needles. Nevertheless: Full-throttle orgies and rapid tire glow are always healthier in the cinema than the crazy self-experiment on the country road "

- Christina Krisch : Kronen-Zeitung

“Brute series action film with simple dialogues, rapid cuts and borrowings from relevant computer racing games, in which everything revolves around speed, sex and crashes. In its taciturn straightforwardness, the film is as consistent as it is surprisingly entertaining. "

“The Justin Lin actioner 'The Fast and the Furious - Tokyo Drift') [sic!] Continues where the first film in the high-speed franchise began. But unfortunately only the sloppy plot serves as a means to an end: dashing carts and hot girls frantically cobbled together in abundance. At least the actors were reactivated from the row start, but that doesn't help either. "

Gross profit

On the opening weekend, the film has already grossed $ 70.9 million in the box office. Overall, the film grossed $ 363 million worldwide on a production budget of $ 85 million. The film was seen by 1,688,616 cinema-goers in Germany.

Sequels
