action

After the successful robbery in Rio , Dominic “Dom” Toretto and his team have retired: Dom lives with Elena Neves, his sister Mia, Brian O'Conner and their son Jack on the Canary Islands . Gisele and Han plan to move to Tokyo, and Roman and Tej lead a life of luxury.

DSS agent Luke Hobbs and his partner Riley are tasked with investigating the destruction of a Russian military convoy, for which former British SAS soldier Owen Shaw is responsible. Shaw plans to steal additional components for a weapon capable of blocking communications across an entire country. Hobbs locates Dom and asks him to help with the planned arrest of Shaw. Dom initially declines, but changes his mind when he learns from Hobbs that his ex-girlfriend Letty, whom he believed to be dead, was involved in the robberies. Dom summons his people, who agree to help Hobbs arrest Shaw. In return, they receive full amnesty for their crimes.

The crew and Hobbs watch a raid on London . The officers had sent one of Shaw's team members bugged into Shaw's hiding place. However, Shaw escapes and blows up the shelter. Dom's team pursues Shaw, but Letty helps him escape and shoots Dom. It is later revealed that Shaw has a connection to the Mexican drug lord Arturo Braga. Brian goes to the United States and is briefly locked in the prison in which Braga is incarcerated. He finds out that Letty was not killed but has been suffering from memory loss and has worked for Shaw ever since. After Dom confronts Letty in London, Shaw shows up and advises him to get out of London. However, Dom refuses to leave without Letty.

Because it is assumed that Shaw an attack on a NATO - Military Base in Spain plans where an individual sought by Shaw computer chip is located, it will be taken away in a military convoy. Shaw anticipated this and began a scheduled raid on the convoy. He and his henchmen gain access to a tank that also contains the chip they are looking for. The result is a destructive drive on the motorway. Dom's crew manage to stop the tank on a bridge, causing Letty, who is on the roof of the tank, to be thrown away. At the last moment she is saved by Dom.

When Shaw and his team are arrested, they are taken to the Spanish military base. Shaw blackmailed his freedom because his henchmen had Mia under their control. It also turns out that Riley was smuggled into Dom's team and actually works for Shaw. She escapes with Shaw. Letty stays with Dom and promises to help arrest Shaw. The entire team takes up the chase. Dom, Brian and Letty follow him into a cargo plane taking off ( Antonov An-124 ). Brian frees Mia from the violence of her kidnappers on board the plane. To prevent the plane from taking off, Dom's team shoots steel cables into the wings of the plane, which they have anchored with their cars. Gisele sacrifices her life to save Han from a dangerous situation. When the plane falls back to the ground under the weight load, Shaw is thrown out of the plane. Dom succeeds in jumping through the nose of the aircraft with a car and thus escaping death. Dom's team returns to the United States, where Hobbs gives them impunity.

After the credits, Hans Accident is shown in Tokyo. It turns out that this was caused by Owen Shaw's brother Deckard. Deckard then calls Dom and tells him that they will meet soon.

background

Filming for the next part of the series should begin in May 2012 in London and Berlin . In mid-June 2012, actress Jordana Brewster hadn't read a script and director Justin Lin tweeted from London about the preparations for filming, which finally began in early August. These took place because of the tax advantages where Marseille was originally planned, including in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife . Additional filming took place from the end of August to mid-September in Glasgow, Scotland , but without the presence of the main actors.

Sequels

Two years later, the sequel Fast & Furious 7 was released in 2015, which continues the cliffhanger from this film. Chronologically, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift from 2006 can also be seen as a direct sequel. Fast & Furious 8 followed in 2017 .

Reviews

Fast & Furious 6 suffers from the same weaknesses as its two direct predecessors - and fortunately also convinces with similar strengths as the last Fast Five . Both are based on Justin Lin's noticeable ambition to stage (halfway) three-dimensional figures with (halfway) understandable conflicts in (halfway) classically narrated genre films. Since Lin's directing tends to get a little too entangled in inconveniences as these conflict situations gradually build up, it takes a while, as in Fast Five , until the 130-minute film really picks up speed. If the acceleration finally sets in, it carries you through the spectacular second half with appropriate speed. "

- Jochen Werner : perlentaucher.de

"A ludicrous action film that doesn't care about the laws of gravity, but for the most part captures its acrobatic battles bloodlessly on the screen."

FAST & FURIOUS 6 lives up to its predecessors in every way and goes one better : more cars, more kilometers per hour and, above all, more Diesel Johnson action. But more is not the same as better. The dialogues and storylines in particular seem as tough as chewed gum several times - tasteless! "
