Sung Kang (born April 8, 1972 in Gainesville , Georgia ) is an American actor . He achieved greater fame, among other things, through the role of Han Lue from the Fast & Furious film series .

life and career

Kang was born and raised in Gainesville. He is a son of South Korean immigrants. However, he grew up with his mother. He later moved to California where he attended the University of California to study law. During his studies, he chose to act.

He had his first television role in 1999 in the television series Felicity . In 2000 he worked with the Korean band " god " in a music video . In 2002, Kang played the role of Han Lue in the movie Better Luck Tomorrow . Justin Lin directed the film . Lin cast him again in 2005 for the role of Han Lue in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift , the third part of the film series The Fast and the Furious . With the film, Kang had his final breakthrough as an actor. Kang also starred in the sequels Fast & Furious - New Model. Original parts. (2009), Fast & Furious Five (2011) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013) as well as in the short film Los Bandoleros (2009). In 2021, Kang will also play in the ninth part of the series.

In 2007, Kang starred opposite Jet Li and Jason Statham in War . In the same year was also seen in a supporting role in the action film Die Hard 4.0 . 2014 starred in the television series Gang Related . The series aired on Fox on May 22, 2014 and was canceled after just one season.

Kang was also the owner of the Saktini restaurant in Brentwood for a time . His German dubbing voice is Gerrit Schmidt-Foss .
