Justin Lin
Justin Lin ( Chinese 林 詣 彬 , Pinyin Lín Yìbīn ; born October 11, 1973 in Taipei , Taiwan ) is an American film director , screenwriter and film producer .
Live and act
Born in Taiwan, Lin grew up in Orange County , California . He graduated from UCLA Film School.
In 1997 he made his debut as a director with the film Shopping for Fangs . In 2002 he directed his second feature film, Better Luck Tomorrow . For this production, Lin was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival . He was also nominated for the John Cassavetes Award at the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards .
In 2006 he directed the star drama Annapolis - Fight for Recognition . The actor James Franco took on the lead role. In the same year, Lin directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the third part of The Fast and Furious film series . Due to the great financial success, five more films in the series have so far been shot. Lin re-directed the first three: Fast & Furious - New Model - followed in 2009 . Original parts. , Fast & Furious Five was released in 2011, followed by Fast & Furious 6 two years later . In April 2011, Lin was interviewed as director of Terminator: Genisys ; the film was then directed by Alan Taylor . In late 2014, it was announced that Lin would direct Star Trek Beyond . Filming began in June 2015. In July 2016, the film was released in cinemas.
Lin doesn't just make action films. In 2007 he directed the comedy Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee . He also directed several episodes of the comedy television series Community from 2009 to 2010 . Lin is also said to be responsible for the comeback of the television series Knight Rider , which should be seen online in 2017.
