SWAT is an American action - crime series from Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan about the SWAT - special unit of the Los Angeles Police Department , on the tough five- based (1975-1976). Starring mainly of Criminal Minds known Shemar Moore . The premiere of the series took place on November 2, 2017 on the US broadcaster CBS .
On November 17, 2017, CBS ordered seven more episodes for the first season, and on December 1, 2017, two more, bringing season one to 22 episodes.
A German-language first broadcast has been on the pay-TV channel Sky 1 since February 12, 2018 .
The series was extended for a second season.
In May 2019, the series was extended for a third season.
In May 2020, the series was extended for a fourth season.

Axel Schmitt from Serienjunkies.de gives a negative verdict on the pilot episode:
“The new CBS police series SWAT tries to upgrade its very common story by focusing on socially explosive topics. However, she lacks the sensitivity for this. Only the visual implementation is convincing in the pilot episode. "
The criticism from TVwunschliste.de was a lot more positive. According to the reviewer Bernd Krannich, it is "a routinely produced action thriller for the American mass taste", but "The action of the series [...] is excellently staged, even if narrative needs naturally take precedence over actually good police work. "Criticism came only to the main character:" Hondo's charm is portrayed a bit penetratingly, which now wraps all women around the finger, as his actor Moore did in 'Criminal Minds' with colleague Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). " "Well-done crime thriller entertainment with an emphasis on action."
