Guy Ferland

Guy Ferland (born February 18, 1966 in Beverly , Massachusetts ) is an American film and television director .

life and career

Guy Ferland was born in Beverly , Massachusetts , in February 1966 and grew up in New Hampshire . After watching Alfred Hitchcock's crime film Notorious at the age of 13 , he decided to become a filmmaker himself . He studied film production at the University of Southern California , from which he graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts . Three days later he started as Joel Schumacher's assistant and worked with him for the next five years on the films Affair , Flatliners - Today is a beautiful day to die , Teen Agent - When looks could kill , decision made out of love , Falling Down - A completely normal day and the client . In 1995 he wrote and directed his first own feature film with Innocent Babysitter .

Two years later, Ferland directed the drama American Dreamer, starring Brad Renfro and Kevin Bacon , which was recognized for excellence in filmmaking by the 1998 National Board of Review . After the staging of Comedy Pizza Rope (1999), he worked with the ABC - TV films Untouchable - Our venerable Sons (1999) and After the Storm (2001) for the first time for television. This was followed in 2002 with Bang, Bang, You're Dead, a film drama based on the play Bang, Bang, You're Dead by William Mastrosimone and freely based on the events of the rampage at Columbine High School three years earlier. For this he won a Directors Guild of America Award , a Daytime Emmy Award and the Audience Award at the Nantucket Film Festival. In 2004 he directed his last feature film with the dance film Dirty Dancing 2 before he turned full-time to television.

By the end of 2013 he had created episodes for 39 different television series. After an episode of Ed - The Bowling Lawyer (2002), he was involved in a total of 13 episodes as a director in the six-year term of the FX series The Shield - Law of Violence (2002-2008). During and since this time he directed episodes of various series, including Dr. House (2005), The Unit - A Question of Honor , Prison Break (both 2006), Saving Grace (2007–2009), Vampire Diaries (2009), Torchwood , Criminal Minds (both 2011), Homeland (2011–2012), Elementary and Once Upon a Time - Once Upon a Time ... (both 2013).

He is currently on the baton of the Sons of Anarchy , The Walking Dead and The Mentalist series , for which he has directed several episodes.
