action

11-year-old Mark Sway and younger brother Ricky happen to watch lawyer Jerome Clifford commit suicide. Clifford, who worked for the Mafia, reveals to Mark before his death where the body of a murdered senator was hidden. While little Ricky is admitted to the clinic with a post-traumatic stress disorder , the police try to interrogate Mark in order to find out what the mafia attorney's last words were. But Mark is also put under pressure by the mafia, which sets the caravan of the already poor family on fire.

Mark is looking for a lawyer and, despite great skepticism, turns to a lawyer, Reggie Love. This then takes on the federal prosecutor Foltrigg, who wants to force a testimony from Mark with not entirely legal means.

Mark's mother Dianne is not very enthusiastic about the lawyer’s growing bond with Mark and says the lawyer would try to take her son away from her.

Mark is being followed by both the police and the mafia. Reggie and Mark agree that the only way to get out of this predicament is to give a statement about the whereabouts of the corpse. But to do this, they have to make sure that the corpse is actually hidden in the aforementioned boat garage.

Meanwhile, the mafia chief Sulari sends his nephew to take the body to another location.

Reggie and Mark are examining the garage when the Mafiosi arrive. They trigger the alarm and thereby scare away the criminals, and they also find the corpse.

Love negotiates with Foltrigg that the Sways should get new identities, a small house and a good job for Dianne as part of the witness protection program . She tells the prosecutor where the body was hidden. The plane with the Sways takes off; Foltrigg announces his success in the media.
