The Chaotenclique (alternative title: unlucky birds ; original title: DC Cab ) is an American action comedy from 1983 . Directed by Joel Schumacher , who wrote the script together with Topper Carew .

Albert Hockenberry moves to Washington, DC He is hired as a taxi driver by his friend Harold, an aging hippie. The Harolds Company is in financial difficulty. Hockenberry tries to awaken team spirit in the drivers - who actually dream of other professions.

A valuable musical instrument that had been left behind is found in one of the cars, for which Harold receives a reward of 10 thousand US dollars from the owner. He wants to distribute the money among the drivers so that they can invest it in the company as his business partners. His wife Myrna takes the money, then she throws Harold and the Hockenberry who is staying with him out of the house. Harold distributes his own savings to his employees.

Hockenberry and two children of a Canadian diplomat are kidnapped. Hockenberry's colleagues help free him.

Reviews

On April 11, 2005, John Crichton compared the film on www.dvdtalk.com to a reality show that nowadays would show such destruction as the one depicted in the film. The script of the “ classic cult comedy ” is simple in theory, but it contains numerous subplots; it weakens in some places.

Cinema magazine described the film as " light-footed pleasure " and a " full throttle comedy with unrestrained sayings ".
