action

17-year-old Michael, also known as White Mike, dropped out of school after his mother's death and is now selling drugs to wealthy teenagers in the Upper East Side of Manhattan , New York.

It's spring break in New York, the teenagers are home from their boarding schools and partying. Business is going well for White Mike. In addition to conventional party drugs, the new drug "Twelve" is also popular with young people. However, White Mike does not want to sell this hard drug. Nevertheless, he establishes contact between the buyer and the dealer Lionel.

Charlie, White Mike's cousin, is shot and killed while trying to get drugs at gunpoint from Lionel in Harlem . Nana, an acquaintance of Mike, observes the crime and is then also killed by Lionel. Mike's best friend Hunter is suspected of murder because he had recently quarreled with Nana.

White Mike is a loner and keeps everyone at a distance. So he lies to his childhood friend Molly about his job, because he doesn't want to drag her into his dark world of drugs.

The school's most popular girl, Sara Ludlow, wants to get famous with the most significant party of all time. To do this, she wraps Christopher around his finger to throw a party at his parents' house on the occasion of her 18th birthday. Chris' brother Claude shows up unexpectedly after tumbling out of a boot camp his parents sent him to to avoid jail time. At the party, Claude goes crazy and shoots several party guests in a maddened state before he himself is shot by the police.

Nevertheless, Twelve is one of the better works by Joel Schumacher ... "

“… In its narrative and staging [the film] seems almost sedate and outdated. The fragmentary dramaturgy of the original worked far better on paper than on canvas ... "
