Anthony LaPaglia
Anthony LaPaglia (born January 31, 1959 in Adelaide , South Australia ) is an Australian actor .
Life
Anthony LaPaglia's father is Italian and his mother is Dutch . Anthony is the oldest of three brothers, the youngest of whom, Jonathan LaPaglia , is also an actor.
He left Australia and went to the United States , where he initially worked as a teacher and did odd jobs that all did not satisfy him. He started acting at the age of 25. His breakthrough came in a Broadway play called Bouncer , in which he embodied eight different characters. LaPaglia reached the peak of his theater career in 1998 with the Tony Award for best actor performance in the revival of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge .
He made numerous guest appearances on television series before receiving his first title role in a motion picture in 1988. He has been filming in both the United States and Australia since then. In addition to numerous thrillers, he also often appeared in ensemble and independent films , such as Big City Slaves by James Ivory , Empire Team , Steve Buscemi's directorial debut Trees Lounge - The Bar , Spike Lee's Summer of Sam , Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown , the costume film Haus Bellomont and The Salton Sea . He played Fidel Castro in Cuba Libre . The Australian films he has appeared in include the coming-of-age film The Secret of the Alibrandis and Lantana . LaPaglia was also a co-producer at Balibo . He plays leading roles in the crime series Murder One and Without a Trace, and he took on a recurring supporting role in Frasier .
In 1998 he married Gia Carides , and in 2003 their daughter was born. In 2015 he separated from his wife. LaPaglia is also co-owner of the Sydney FC football club and president of the American amateur football club Hollywood United FC
