action

Denise Moore is robbed one day, with permanent cuts on her face. She files a complaint at a police station and believes that she recognizes the culprit in the convicted Jessie Williams. Although Williams protests his innocence, he is charged.

The prosecutor focuses on winning the case and ignores inconsistencies. From the start, Williams' attorney advised his client to get a deal with the prosecutor that would result in no trial and a significantly lighter sentence for Williams. The defense attorney makes it clear to Williams that whether he is truly guilty or not, the trial can end in conviction for him, as the victim thinks he recognizes him and his mother is not credible as a witness to an alibi. According to an offer from the prosecutor, which Williams accepts, Williams is imprisoned for three and a half to seven years after he pleads guilty - otherwise he faces twelve years in prison.

Reviews

The Rotten Tomatoes editors wrote that the "powerful drama" argues that the US courts are too overloaded with cases to bring about justice in each individual case.

Cinema magazine wrote that Andy Wolk showed "the downside of justice in his gripping court drama . " He tries "with almost documentary ambition to do justice to all positions" .

The lexicon of international film said: Not a classic drama about guilt and innocence, but a semi-documentary film which, on the occasion of an everyday incident, raises the question of the extent to which jurisdiction is only determined by the constant agreements between legal professionals. A sober and sobering inventory, not particularly exciting, but played excellently.
