Rosa María Pérez (* 6. September 1964 in New York City as Rosa Maria Serrano ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Perez comes from a Puerto Rican family. She made her debut as a dancer in the television program Soul Train , her first role in a movie she played in Do the Right Thing from 1989. In the comedy White Boys Can't Bring it (1992) she played a larger role alongside Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson , in the 1994 comedy $ 2 Million Tip , she starred alongside Nicolas Cage and Bridget Fonda .

For her role in the drama Fearless (1993), in which she starred alongside Jeff Bridges , Isabella Rossellini and Tom Hulce , Perez was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was nominated for a Golden Globe in the same category and won a special award at the Berlinale , the Boston Society of Film Critics Award , the Chicago Film Critics Association Award and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award . For her leading role in the film Perdita Durango (1997) she was awarded a prize at the Mostra Internazionale del Film de Fantascienza e del Fantastico di Roma . In the film The 24 Hour Woman (1999) she played the lead role, for which she was nominated for the ALMA Award and for the Black Reel Award . Her voice was heard alongside the voices of Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh in the cartoon The Road to El Dorado .

Rosie Perez married director Seth Zvi Rosenfeld in 1999 , and they separated in 2001.

She played the role of Dahlia in the TV series Lipstick Jungle . Perez appeared in the performance art film for Jay-Z's song Picasso Baby .
