Isabella Rossellini
Isabella Fiorella Elettra Giovanna Rossellini (born June 18, 1952 in Rome ) is an Italian - American actress .
Life
Isabella Rossellini is the daughter of actress Ingrid Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini . She has two siblings, an older brother, Roberto Ingmar, and the twin sister Isotta , as well as a smaller half-sister Raffaela (from the relationship between Roberto Rossellini and Sonali Dasgupta) and an older half-sister, Pia Lindström (the daughter of Ingrid Bergman's first marriage to Petter Lindström ). When Isabella Rossellini was five years old, her parents separated. She grew up with a nanny in Rome, in an apartment directly across from her father's. Isabella suffered from scoliosis and had to endure lengthy and painful treatments. She started out as a fashion designer and journalist, at that time she worked mostly in New York.
From 1979 to 1982 Isabella Rossellini was married to the director Martin Scorsese , later to the model Jonathan Wiedemann. She also had long relationships with David Lynch and Gary Oldman . She has two children and is an Italian citizen as well as a US citizen.
Career
From 1982 to 1993 she was a model for the French cosmetics company Lancôme , with which there was a dispute in 1994. Her contract was not renewed, the company believes that she was already too old. Since then, Isabella Rossellini has been producing her own line of cosmetics.
She made her acting debut in 1976 at the side of her mother in Vincente Minnelli's Nina - Just a Matter Of Time (A Matter Of Time) . She then starred in films by Norman Mailer, Robert Zemeckis, Joel Schumacher, John Schlesinger, Peter Weir, Abel Ferrara and Peter Greenaway. After her beginnings with Italian comedies, Isabella Rossellini became internationally known for the films Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart - The Story of Sailor and Lula directed by David Lynch . In Blue Velvet , she played the battered nightclub singer Dorothy Vallens. She can be heard as a singer in the song A Marriage Made In Heaven by the group Tindersticks . In 2005 she made the short film My Dad is 100 Years Old with experimental filmmaker Guy Maddin , a homage to her father Roberto Rossellini.
She presented her directorial debut Green Porno at the Berlinale 2008: eight comic-like short film episodes depict the sex life of earthworms, dragonflies, snails, bees and praying mantises. Isabella Rossellini played numerous animals herself, including a. a snail and a male spider.
At the 2011 Berlinale , she chaired the international jury that awarded the main prize to the Iranian entry Nader and Simin - A Separation . In 2013 she received the Berlinale Camera at the 63rd Berlinale .
In 2017 she published the humorous book Meine Hühner und ich in Germany .
