The Incredibles 2 (original title: Incredibles 2 ) is an American computer animation film of Pixar Animation Studios , which appeared in the summer of 2018 in US cinemas. It was released in theaters in Germany on September 27, 2018. The film continues the plot from The Incredibles - The Incredibles from 2004. As in the first part, it was directed by Brad Bird .
action
The film follows on from the open end of the first film , when an anthropomorphic mole named "The Tunnel Digger" threatens the city and the Parr family opposes it. They stop him, but this damages the city. The program that supports superheroes financially is being discontinued.
Helen and Bob Parr have to go to a hotel room. A fan of superheroes offers to give them a house if Helen (as Elastigirl) fights crime again. Meanwhile, Bob (aka Mr. Incredible) stays at home, tries to help his children Violetta and Flash in everyday life and discovers Jack-Jack's previously hidden superpowers. Jack-Jack has several different super powers.
Helen can catch a villain, but realizes that her sponsor's sister is behind it. With the help of hypnosis , Helen is turned over. This also works with Bob and the superhero Frozone.
Violetta and Flash try to save their parents. Of course they have to take Jack-Jack with them.
production
Since the previous part ends with a cliffhanger , there has been speculation since then whether there would be a sequel to the film. In 2007 director Brad Bird finally announced that he was interested in a sequel and already had elements in his head that he still had to merge. In May 2013, Bird reiterated its interest in a sequel, but said it still needed time. 10 months later, in March 2014, The Incredibles 2 was confirmed with Bird as director and screenwriter. As of April 2015, Bird wrote the script. Disney had originally announced the film for June 21, 2019, but later swapped the launch date of The Incredibles 2 with the launch date of Toy Story 4 , as production of the superhero film was progressing faster than expected.
On the Disney's D23 panel in July 2017, Bird said that the focus of the film would be on the character Elastigirl, alias Helen Parr, and that it would build on the previous film. In November 2016 it was announced that Holly Hunter would again dub the voice of Elastigirl in the original. The following month, the return of the voice of Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius was also announced. In July 2017, the announcements of Craig T. Nelson in his role as Mr. Incredible aka Bob Parr and of Sarah Vowell as his and Helen's daughter Violet Parr followed on the D23 . The voice of Violetta's brother Robert Flash, who spoke in the previous film Spencer Fox , was replaced by Huck Milner , as Fox could no longer take on the role due to his voice broken. Director Bird takes on the dubbing of the secondary character Edna "E" Mode again, while John Ratzenberger will again be heard as the tunnel digger.
The first teaser trailer for the film was released in November 2017. In Germany, the film opened on September 27, 2018. The world premiere of the film took place on June 5, 2018 in Los Angeles.
A German audio book about the film is due to be published by Hörverlag on August 20, 2018. The translation was done by Claudia Amor and the reading by Markus Maria Profitlich , who dubbed Bob Parr in the German version in both films.

It is currently number 4 among the most successful films of 2018 and number 18 (as of August 8, 2020) among the financially most successful films of all time . The film recorded 2,193,076 visitors in German cinemas, bringing in 17.95 million euros and making it to 10th place in the 2018 annual charts .
criticism
The film has so far won over 94% of the critics on Rotten Tomatoes and received a Metascore of 80 out of 100 possible points on Metacritic .
Sebastian Werner says on Kino.de that the "funny baby Jack-Jack turns out to be a blessing and a curse" because it attracts everyone's attention. This time the sequel lacks the "James Bond feeling". Since there is no real threat, the event remains "quite unspectacular".
Christoph Petersen von Filmstarts considers the two films to be an "homage to the golden era of American comic books [...] from the 1930s to the early 1960s". Bird plays with the family role model of the time, "when Elastigirl keeps saving the day while Mr. Incredible longs for his times as a strong man". The villain is a “small disappointment”, but the action choreographies are sometimes “infinitely imaginative” and in the finale “staging finesse and creative script ideas” complement each other perfectly.
Oliver Kaever from Spiegel Online noticed the consumer criticism that is being exercised in the “colorful spectacle that is supposed to be nothing more than family entertainment” in the person of the villain “Screenslaver” (“Every meaningful experience is delivered to you neatly packaged so that you can can examine from a safe distance and remain sheltered, hungry consumers. "). Since the unbelievable “have to rely on each other” in order to save the world, the sequel is also a family film again. The film does not achieve the lightness of its predecessor, but it does offer "thrill, fun and insane editing sequences".
