British Academy Film Award / Best Animated Feature Film
Winners and nominees in the category Best Animated Feature (Best Animated Movie) since it was first presented at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA Awards) in the year 2007 . In the previous year, the animated film Wallace & Gromit - On the Hunt for the Giant Rabbit as Best British Film had prevailed against real films such as The Eternal Gardener or Pride and Prejudice . Also in 2007, the competing led Golden Globe Awards one such category new one.
Until 2014, the BAFTA winner was always awarded the Oscar in the same category . The most successful animation studio is Pixar , whose films were awarded five times between 2008 and 2011 and 2013.
A film qualifies if it is essentially animated for the majority of its running time and has a significant number of animated main characters. The award is given at the discretion of the BAFTA Film Committee, provided that at least eight entries are submitted. The directors are generally honored, whereby according to the current regulations only two people per film receive a mention. In contrast to the other film categories, no more than three nominations are given. In theory, animated feature films can also be nominated in the Best Film category together with real films , but this has not yet happened.
The films listed below are given with their German distribution title (if they can be determined), followed by the original title in the respective national language and the names of the directors in brackets in italics. The original title is not mentioned if the German and original film titles are identical. The winners are highlighted first.
