John Musker (born November 8, 1953 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ) is an American cartoon film director .

John Musker makes up one half of the leading team in contemporary animation . The other half is made up of animation director Ron Clements . He met him in the productions of Cap and Capper , where he worked as an animator under Ron Clements. Musker has worked with Clements on many hit Disney films since then. John Musker made his directorial debut after he had left the Taran and the Magic Cauldron project early, together with Ron Clements and two other collaborators in the successful cartoon Basil, the great mouse detective . John Musker and Ron Clements have worked as writers and directors on many successful Disney films , such as the Hans Christian Andersen retelling Arielle, the Mermaid , which brought animation back to a commercially relevant basis through its great success and the Oscar-winning songs brought back, or the equally successful cartoons Aladdin and Hercules .

The next collaboration led John Musker and Ron Clements in 2002 to the science fiction cartoon adventure Treasure Planet , a film that both directors longed for as a dream project long before the successful previous films were shot, which, despite good reviews, remained far below the commercial success they had hoped for .

In 2010, the animated film Kiss the Frog earned him an Oscar nomination.
