Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee (born October 22, 1971 in East Providence , Rhode Island ) is an American director , screenwriter and film producer . She received the Oscar in 2014 for the animated film Frozen - Totally Unabashed .

Life

In her youth, Lee played the flute and was active as a cheerleader . She began studying English at New Hampshire University , graduating with a Bachelor of Arts , and then went to New York to work as a graphic designer in the publishing industry for Random House . But after Lee's boyfriend at the time died at the age of 20, she wanted to tell her own stories and enrolled at Columbia Film School , where she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts . During this time, Lee gave birth to their daughter Agatha. On her first day at university, she met Phil Johnston .

Lee and Johnston wrote the script for Ralph Enough . In November 2012, Lee published the book The Art of Wreck-It Ralph with Maggie Malone and John Lasseter .

With her work for Frozen , Lee was the first female director of a Disney film. She also took on some speaking roles in the film. Her daughter Agatha sang along with Kristen Bell and Katie Lopez the piece Do You Want to Build a Snowman? a. Together with Chris Buck and Peter Del Vecho , she was awarded the Oscar for the best animated feature film at the 2014 Academy Awards .

Lee married Robert Joseph Monn on May 30, 1999 in Rhode Island. She currently lives with her family in a canyon in the San Fernando Valley .
