action
It is Christmas in Arendelle and a big surprise Christmas party is being prepared in the castle of Arendelle. Elsa and Anna are looking forward to the first big Christmas in Arendelle as united sisters. Even Olaf, the snowman, can hardly wait and "surprises" the servants in the castle again and again during the preparations for the festival. The forecourt of the castle is well filled and the Christmas tradition of Arendelle is about to begin: the ringing of the Christmas bell. Kristoff and Sven bring the Christmas bell from Arendelle to Schlossplatz. When Elsa, Anna and Olaf ring the bell, according to tradition, Christmas officially begins in Arendelle. After the bell rings, Elsa and Anna invite everyone to their big surprise Christmas party. However, everyone immediately leaves Schlossplatz and pursues their own Christmas traditions.
Olaf asks the two sisters whether they also have a Christmas tradition, which they deny. Kristoff tries to cheer them up with the legend of Flemmingrad, which he has with the trolls as a Christmas tradition. Unfortunately that doesn't work. Elsa blames herself for the fact that they don't have a Christmas tradition because she always locked herself in her room and she withdraws. Olaf doesn't like that his best friends are so sad at Christmas and comes up with an idea how he can save Christmas. Together with Sven, he rides a sleigh through Arendelle and asks the residents about their Christmas traditions and takes something from every household. The last house on his mission is Oaken's cabin. Oaken's tradition is to take a sauna bath with his family. Oaken gives him a small sauna. Olaf and Sven make their way back to the castle and are absolutely thrilled that they have collected so many Christmas traditions. On their way through the mountains, a hot coal comes off the sauna and lights the sleigh with the Christmas traditions. Olaf does not notice this at first and is happy that there is a second reindeer here, which is actually Sven, whom he overtook with the sledge, because half of it has become detached from Sven. The sledge picks up speed and pulls the two of them towards an abyss. While Sven can still save himself at the edge, the sledge with the Christmas traditions falls down the abyss and Olaf ends up on the other side of the gorge, where he can still save a single Christmas tradition (a fruitcake). He tells Sven that they will meet in the castle. However, he promptly meets the wolves of the forest and now has to run away from them. Sven notices this and rushes to the castle, where he tries to explain to Kristoff that Olaf needs his help. However, he is absorbed in the preparation of a traditional Christmas stew and does not understand his friend. In the meantime, Anna and Elsa meet in the attic, where Anna searches for her Christmas tradition. There you will find a mysterious box. You go down to the stable and see Sven asking Kristoff for help for Olaf. Together with the two of them, they rush to the village of Arendelle and ask the residents whether they saw Olaf. Some residents join a search for Olaf. He has now escaped the wolves, but has lost his last Christmas tradition and is so sad that he doesn't want to return. However, Anna and Elsa find him and show him the box; their content: lots of children's drawings and handicrafts showing Olaf. Anna has made such a present for Elsa every year since she was a child and she collected them all in the box; that's why Olaf is her Christmas tradition.
When the “family” is reunited, they all celebrate Christmas together with the residents of Arendelle. Elsa wants to make it special and uses her magic to create a big Christmas tree out of ice. In the end, she creates a poinsettia with an Olaf figure that Anna made a few years ago, which she lets Olaf hang on top. Elsa looks around and is happy to be with her friends and family and thinks that Arendelle has a new tradition for Christmas. Anna agrees and thanks Olaf for this tradition.

Reviews
filmstarts.de wrote Robert Laubenthal: "With the 22-minute short film [...] the Walt Disney Animation Studios bring us a reunion with the popular characters from their mega-hit 'The Ice Queen - Totally Cheeky'". "The sympathetic and kind-hearted snowman Olaf ('I love hugs') and the fantastically beautiful winter setting of the Arendelle kingdom fit perfectly into the Christmas season." The film is "more than an action and humorous winter pleasure," with a "sometimes almost pushy good-humored snowman. "
