Rudolf Hansel

Rudolf Hänsel (born January 5, 1920 in Böhmisch-Zinnwald ; † June 14, 2018 ) was a German pharmacist .

Hänsel began studying pharmacy at the University of Munich in 1947 . After receiving his doctorate (1950) and habilitation (1955) at the same university, he was appointed professor at the Free University of Berlin as director of the Institute for Pharmacognosy a year later . In 1987 he retired and moved to Munich.

As the successor to Hermann Hager, Hansel was co-editor of Hager's Handbook of Pharmaceutical Practice . With Ernst Steinegger he created a textbook on pharmacognosy and phytopharmacy , the fourth edition of which appeared in 1988.
