Pia Ovanda (* 1992 as Pia Allgaier in Nesselwang ) is a German singer. She became known, among other things, through roles in the German dubbed versions of the films Rapunzel - New Feels and The Ice Queen - Völlig Unabashed , in which she took over the vocal parts for one of the main characters.

Career

Pia Ovanda, also known by her maiden name Pia Allgaier, comes from a family of musicians and began playing her first instrument, the accordion, at the age of four. Violin lessons followed and later cello lessons with Wolfgang Nüsslein. She had solo roles as a singer in her father's orchestra at an early age.

She began her professional training as a singer with Petra Scheeser . In 2010, the lecturer, who had noticed Ovanda's talent, advised the 18-year-old to contact Tommy Ampers recording studio in Munich. At that time, Amper was looking for the voices for the German version of the feature film Rapunzel - New Feels . In the end, Ovanda actually took on the vocal parts of the title role.

In 2011 she began studying jazz singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim with Ann Malcolm and after two years switched to Annette von Eichel at the Cologne University of Music. In 2016 she founded the synth pop band MADSIUSOVANDA with the German pianist and composer Carina Madsius, with which she has already appeared at the London Fashion Week 2017 and as the opening act of the American Blue Note saxophonist Marcus Strickland .
