Hugh Welchman
Hugh Welchman (* early 1975 in Bracknell , Buckinghamshire ) is a British film producer .
Life
Welchman, born in the first quarter of 1975, studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University and then attended the National Film and Television School in London .
From 2001 he produced some short films , such as B. The Clap and The Most Beautiful Man in the World , for which he received a 2003 BAFTA Award nomination for Best Short Film . Later on, some - previously unknown - feature films followed .
In 2006 the 30-minute short film Peter and the Wolf was released , a stop-motion reinterpretation of the classic Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofjew , which premiered in 1936. Welchman produced the film, which was directed by Suzie Templeton . Together, the two won the Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category at the 2008 Academy Awards . They also received a nomination at the BAFTA Awards in 2007.
In 2007 Welchman worked as a visual effects supervisor for the French drama La vie en rose .
Hugh Welchman worked for several years on the first full- length animated film, which was created with over 60,000 individual oil paintings : Loving Vincent was released in 2017 and tells a fictional story about the enigmatic death of Vincent van Gogh . The film uses only paintings by Van Gogh as the basis for the scenes. Loving Vincent , which Welchman realized with his wife Dorota Kobiela , won several awards, including the European Film Award 2017 for best animated film.
In late June 2018, Welchman became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , as did his wife Dorota Kobiela.
