Happy Feet ( English [ˈhæpi fi: t] for Happy Feet ) is an Australian-American computer animation film directed by George Miller from 2006. Miller's first animated film was also the first animated film made by the Sydney- based special effects company Animal Logic . The film grossed over $ 380 million at the global box office, ousting Crocodile Dundee as the world's most successful Australian film.

action

The film tells the story of the emperor penguin Mumble. Since the egg slipped out of his father's legs and was exposed to the cold for some time, Mumble could not sing. He can, however, step and is therefore considered an outsider by the other penguins, but the female Gloria shows him sympathy.

With Adelie penguins, Mumble gets to know another species of penguin whose relatives appreciate his dance skills. The rockhopper penguin Lovelace also lives with them .

With these he goes in search of people who are known as "aliens". Together with the Adelie penguin Ramon and his colleagues, he is looking for the answer to the question of why the fish population has decreased. He is washed up on a beach. When he wakes up he is in a zoo with other penguins. When he starts to dance in front of a girl behind the glass wall, he attracts the attention of the other visitors. He returns to the emperor penguins with a transmitter on his back that guides people to him. The recording of the dancing Mumble in the middle of the dancing penguin colony, which is broadcast worldwide, moves people to stop overfishing . Mumble and Gloria become a couple.

On ReelViews, James Berardinelli praised the “realistic” looking drawings of the penguins as well as the “spontaneity” and “humor” of Robin Williams. He wrote that the film had the "ingredients" for a "great film" but was going off the rails before the end. Berardinelli can recommend the film, but not as “enthusiastically” as he would like it to be.

“The entertaining cartoon is designed as a musical and type comedy, although it adopts a remarkably skeptical ecological stance. It should only reach small moviegoers to a limited extent, but is recommended for [...] pedagogical follow-up. "
