Doug Mitchell (* 1952 in Great Britain ) is a British film producer who has been working in Australia since the mid-1980s and mostly works with George Miller .

Life

Doug Mitchell's career as a film producer began in the mid 1980s as part of the Kennedy Miller- run production company in Sydney , Australia . In the late 1980s, as part of the production team, along with George Miller and Terry Hayes, he was nominated three times for the AACTA Award for Best Film at the Australian Film Institute Awards . In 1987 they won it with The Year of My First Love and in 1990 with Flirting - Spiel mit der Liebe . The only nomination was death silence in 1989 .

In 1996 he was nominated for the Oscar for the first time together with George Miller and his brother Bill Miller with A Pig called Babe . However, the film did not win the Oscar for Best Picture , only the Oscar for Best Visual Effects . For this, the three won a Golden Globe Award . They were also nominated for the BAFTA Award and the Golden Laurel Award .

In 2006 he produced the film Happy Feet , again together with the Miller brothers . The film received an Oscar for best animated feature film and a BAFTA Award in the same category. Therefore, the three producers were nominated for the Producers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Achievement.

In 2016, she received her second Oscar nomination in the category of best film for the production of Mad Max: Fury Road .
